GEORGE MADER, FAICP
Mr. Mader, president of the firm, has a
broad background in advising local governments, reviewing projects and
participating in public meetings. He has
prepared zoning, subdivision and site development regulations for communities
in California, has carried out a variety of special planning
studies, and has worked with communities to develop or update their general
plans. His specialties include
preparation of regulations, hillside planning and planning for areas of
geologic hazards. He did pioneering work
in the development of slope-density zoning and also the transfer of development
credits.
In addition to developing regulations, Mr. Mader
has significant experience with implementation.
As a representative of the firm, he has served as Town Planner for the
Town of Portola Valley since 1965. Mr. Mader has taught planning courses including a course on
planning and the environment at Stanford University from 1970 to 2000. He has chaired or been a member of numerous
committees at state and national levels, including the California Seismic
Safety Commission and national committees of the President's Office of Science
and Technology Policy, the National Research Council, the National Science
Foundation, and the United States Geological Survey.
